Esta Bovill MD PhD is a Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon and Associate Professor at UBC in Vancouver, BC. She is also proud mom of Maggie (10) and Monty (8).
Esta was brought up in England where as an undergrad she played Varsity Hockey. She moved to endurance sport during her Residency, completing four Ironmans. After running 250km across the Sahara in the Marathon des Sables, she vowed to never run again, and her love for the bike and team sport prevailed. Pre COVID, she raced bikes for a UCI team on the North American circuit and is overjoyed to have recently discovered virtual racing and a team atmosphere again with STPC.
When she’s not racing or fixing broken people, she spends her time between her kids and training, often at the same time (thanks to Zwift). She believes the juggle is worth it, not least to inspire her kids to live life to the fullest. With her ever-supportive husband, the whole family skis and rides bikes together and she looks forward to the day the kids are also faster than her on a road bike.
